Lyrics:
[Female Vocal - Verse]
i fall asleep in leopard print and flannel
that no one will ever see
like effort only matters
if i've got somebody next to me
i wake up in the morning
make my way to the bus
talk to myself in the window
like there's still more left to discuss
i imagine the possibility
and ask myself where he might be
eating dinner in vancouver?
or watching the stars in boise?
i picture someone who tells me
"you're a hot paul mccartney"
[Female Vocal - Pre-Chorus]
i do too much thinking
that's the problem
all these questions
and nobody to solve them
[Female Vocal - Chorus]
spin around these thoughts
like the wheels on a bus
they go round and round
not worth a penny
but i've got enough
for a roll of nickels now
i sit in the front seat
always looking to see
when one door opens
if it's love
or another exit strategy
[Male Vocal - Verse]
i always thought by now
i'd find the apple of my eye
someone to send
shivers down my spine
and i look for a pretty face
from the back of this bus
thinking i'll see it
and it'll be the start of us
maybe she's turning on her porch light
somewhere in tennessee
maybe she'll be creative
like a hot paul mccartney
[Male Vocal - Pre-Chorus]
i do too much thinking
that's the problem
all these questions
and nobody to solve them
[Male Vocal - Chorus]
spin around these thoughts
like the wheels on a bus
they go round and round
not worth a penny
but i've got enough
for a roll of nickels now
i sit in the front seat
always looking to see
when one door opens
if it's love
or just another exit strategy
[Female Vocal]
and i don't need it
[Male Vocal]
yeah, i just want it
[Female Vocal]
i don't have to be astonished
[Duet]
just waiting patiently
for something honest
and maybe that's the funny thing
about looking endlessly
every door that opens
has been my exit strategy
if i stay a while longer
maybe i will finally see
a door open again
and bring you to me
[Duet - Final Chorus]
spin around these thoughts
like the wheels on a bus
they go round and round
maybe they're worth nothing
but i've thought enough
to fill a roll of nickels now
we sit in different seats
both looking to see
when one door opens
if it's love
or another exit strategy
[Female Vocal]
maybe he's in vancouver
[Male Vocal]
maybe she's in tennessee
[Female Vocal]
maybe somewhere in boise
[Male Vocal]
maybe she's looking for me
[Duet]
maybe we're both on our way
to somewhere we don't need to be
waiting for the same door to open
without an exit strategy

Awh! AWH! That sweet, spicy guitar music! The blending of vocals! It's delicious!...and then you ruin it, entirely by throwing in the "hot" Beatle talk. UGH! It was so close to perfection. I noticed a few bits that could have been tailored for better pacing/syllable counts. But, overall, I am in LOVE with this one. I'd send it straight to print (CD), but it's hanging at 98% finished in my mind. :D
